The Indian Railways has a complex waiting list system. There are three categories of reservation (and they are called 'streams'): Category 1 (train class), Category 2 (conductor class), and Category 3 (engineer class) and the reservation is based on a quota system. The quota is the number of seats reserved for a particular class of train
